Bill McKinney has only recently started doing teaching videos
with us. He's very respected by other pro's in fact, the PGA prez
of Germany begged Bill to stay in Europe... because what he was teaching
the pro's there had changed the European game dramatically. And they were
starting to kick American butt in international tournaments again. Bill
has returned to the States, and every golfer who knows the power of his
teaching ability is thrilled.
Here's how to start practicing like the pros:
- For maximum power and distance, the pros make sure that they have
a flat left wrist and a bent right wrist at impact. To make sure your
hands are in this correct position, one thing a player must concentrate
on is his backswing.
- A huge problem thats rarely addressed by golf instructors is
the elbow separation that can occur toward the top of the
backswing. Many golfers, in an effort to feel like theyre getting
more power, will lift their right elbow during the backswing and downswing.
The reality is that this actually robs them of power because it leads
to the unwanted bending of the left wrist, which in turn makes it difficult
if not impossible to get the hands into proper impact position.

- One drill to help you avoid the classic flying Chicken Wing
and keep your elbows tied together
is the luggage
strap drill. Place a strap around both arms just above the elbows
and practice some simple pitch shots. Start slow and concentrate on
keeping a flat left wrist and a bent right wrist at impact with the
ball. When you feel comfortable, progress to a full swing

- The fact that the strap is forcing you to keep your elbows tighter
together will help keep proper alignment of the wrists and consequently
allow you to have perfect hand position at impact.
